Giselle’s Review:
*ARC provided for book tour*
The Last Thing is Briana Gaitan’s debut novel and it had the potential to be a really great read for me. It was well-written, the plot was well thought out, and it definitely had a unique feel to it.
Quinn and Chase were extremely enjoyable characters, and Quinn’s character was especially intriguing. However, I really lacked a connection with the main characters, Quinn and Chase, and the insta-lust/attraction/love with her and Chase just didn’t do it for me. I more often than not don’t have a problem with insta-love/lust but with Quinn and Chase I just did not feel it.
I really liked that The Last Thing kept me glued till the last page and kept me reading, even if I didn’t necessarily feel a connection with the characters. Briana’s writing is captivating and was probably my favorite thing about this book.
Ginger was also a lovable secondary character so I will probably be coming back for more in hopes that I can connect with her story and character a bit better.
The plot was unique in a way because there’s a twist in the beginning rather than the end. I didn’t expect the story to be the way it was, so I have to give it to the author for surprising me right from the start!
So all in all, I liked that the book grabbed me and kept me reading, and that there was a bit of a mysterious vibe to it with the whole Bash situation. 🙂
PS. I am so so obsessed with that simple yet beautiful cover. <3
If you’re in the mood for an unconventional type of romance, and don’t mind insta-lust/love I would definitely recommend this book, which you can purchase HERE!
