Finding Dandelion by Lex Martin
When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.
But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate’s brother? That’s a shock.
Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.
Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.
Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if it means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart.
Giselle’s Review:
Staying up until 3am after a hectic concert to finish reading Finding Dandelion was probably one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made. Those last couple chapters made my head spin, and heart hurt, but by the end I was smiling like a lunatic. I’m getting ahead of myself though, lets start from the beginning.
Upon starting Finding Dandelion I didn’t think I would love it as much as I did Dearest Clementine, just because I thought Jax was an asshole. And yeah, in Findind Dandelion he still is an asshole, but he’s an asshole that you can’t help but fall head-over-boots IN LOVE WITH.
I didn’t really form an opinion about Dani when reading Dearest Clementine, but after reading Finding Dandelion there is no doubt in my mind that I have a ginormous girl-crush on her, much like I did with Clementine. Dani is fun, quirky, and even a bit awkward at times. She’s down to earth and sweet, but she’s got a bit of an eccentric/wild artsy side too, which I adored! Dani was also another one of Lex Martin’s characters that made me actually laugh out loud! Dani usually had me laughing, grinning, or thinking “You go girl! Preach!”, the majority of the time.
“Hello, she rolled her eyes at me when I asked if she liked The Vampire Diaries.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever had this much foreplay before with a straight guy.”
“Besides, between your small brain and his small dick, I’d say you’re a match made in heaven.”
The chemistry between Dani and Jax was OFF THE CHARTS. I thought Gavin and Clementine had amazing chemistry but Dani and Jax’s may have just topped theirs. Jax and Dani’s scenes together were just plain HOT, like fire doused in gasoline hot. Here’s a little teaser I stole off Lex Martin’s twitter just so I have a little extra proof to back up what I’m saying. 😉
Like I said before Jax is an asshole, and you may just hate him for a little, but then, at one point or another, he just turns it all around and you can’t help but fall for him. Certain scenes will just have you melting into a puddle of mush because he does some of the sweetest things EVER. I don’t want to give anything away, but lets just say Jax sure knows how to take care of an injured girl. <3
So to honor my review of Dearest Clementine, I will create a short list of what I loved about Finding Dandelion (I’ll be brief, I swear).
1) Dani.
2) Dani’s relationship with her mom. It reminded me so much of my relationship with my mom, and I absolutely love mother-daughter relationships which are almost like great friendships.
3) Jax. Jax. Jax.
4) The chemistry between Jax and Dani. (HOT HOT HOT)
5) The relationship between Jax and Dani. Jax and Dani’s relationship was spectacular because you could obviously tell they were attracted to one another, but they weren’t just attracted to one another on a physical level. They had a great connection as just friends too.
6) Travis, Jenna, Ryan, and Clementine <3
7) References to my hometown (Miami), and my name even makes an appearance or two. 😉
8) The humor! Not only did Dani say some hilarious things throughout the novel, but I gotta give it to Ryan for always managing to make me laugh, no matter how short the comment he makes is. Which leads me to ask/beg for Lex to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write Jenna and Ryan’s story! I think I may just die fangirling if that ever happens!
Ryan -> “It’s like a tupperware party but with vibrators and shit.”
Finding Dandelion is another must read, sexy, romantic, angst-ridden, novel by Lex Martin that will have you falling in love with the strong, compassionate, and quirky Dani, and the sweetheart/asshole Jax, because after all, even asshole’s like Jax can be worthy of happily ever afters.
P.S. The cover on this book is absolutely GORGEOUS. So scroll back up and click it to purchase a copy of this AMAZING love story. 🙂
