Chasing River (Burying Water #3) by K.A. Tucker
Armed with two years’ worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.
Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn’t let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.
Maybe it’s because he saved her life, or maybe it’s because he’s completely different from everything she’s left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.
And River isn’t the kind of guy she’d want to catch.
Giselle’s Review:
*adds Ireland to the absolute top of my “Places I need to visit” list.
What is with all these incredible authors writing novels that make want to fly across the country?! I want to tell you all to stop setting your books in such gorgeous places but if you listen to me, I may just start crying. All of these gorgeously set novels are going to put a dent in to my already empty bank account, because pretty soon I’m going to be buying plane tickets!
Chasing River by K.A. Tucker is the third novel in the Burying Water series and it’s also Amber Welles’ book. We first meet Amber in Burying Water because she’s Jesse Welles’ sister.
So I’d never thought I would fall in love with Amber’s character based off of her personality in the first two books- not because of anything, but she’s just so different from my own personality, that I never thought I would be able to connect with her character as much as I did. However, in Chasing River we really get to see a different side of Amber, one that wants to get out of Sisters, Oregon and explore the world- a side that I can totally agree with because who doesn’t want to travel the country?
In one crazy encounter in Ireland, Amber meets River Delaney- well, sort of. The “meeting” part doesn’t happen until a bit after said ‘crazy encounter.’ 😉
River is definitely someone Amber would have never been friends with back home. She’s a stickler for the rules and- well, he’s been in his fair-share of trouble with the law before, but when attraction sparks, there’s no stopping it between these two. It also doesn’t help that River is so incredibly charming and he’s blessed with an Irish accent???? Who can resist that???!
Chasing River is not only so freaking well-written, it’s suspenseful, romantic, and one of a kind. The drama and suspense will have you at the edge of your seat and you won’t be able to put this book down until you figure out how everything will play out. K.A. never ceases to amaze me with her writing style and her books will forever hold a special place in my heart. All her novels are truly unforgettable and this new release is no exception.
You’ll definitely be left with a minor case of “book hangover” when it’s over and you will most definitely want more of River and Amber.
