Beyond These Walls is the sequel to J.L.Bergs, Within These Walls, and let me just start off by saying that I absolutely adored Within These Walls. However, Beyond These Walls didn’t quite manage to gain my affections like WTW did. Which is not to say that I didn’t enjoy BTW, but when compared to how I felt about WTW  it fell- well, a bit flat in comparison for me- at least in the beginning.

One of the things that I loved about Within These Walls was that it evoked so much emotion from me. WTW is unique, angst-y, and has such an incredible plot. BTW, being a continuation of Lailah and Jude’s story was also an incredibly good read, but I couldn’t get really into it until things started picking up halfway through.

The beginning of BTW was just too overwhelmingly sweet and perfect for my tastes, but then the climax picks up halfway and- boy, does it pick up. I could not put it down after I reached that halfway mark because I  just had this overwhelming need to see what was going to happen next in Lailah and Jude’s story.

Anyway, overall, Beyond These Walls, was a well-written and a great conclusion to the series- and I really liked that I get to see more of Lailah and Jude, but I could have definitely done without all the mush in the beginning half of it because it was just a tad too sweet for my tastes.

Within These Walls is definitely still a must read for me- and I suggest if you haven’t read it, you get it ASAP. Then, if you’re up for more Lailah and Jude, give Beyond These Walls a try, because it really does end up being a great conclusion to their story! 🙂
