Okay wow, so I just realized I never wrote a review for Aflame and my first thought was, “Giselle, how could you do this?!?!” Maybe it’s because I had the biggest book hangover of all time after finishing this book- since it IS the end of the series, but that is no excuse, so here we go.
Aflame by Penelope Douglas is the final installment in the Fall Away series and words can not express how irrevocably and unconditionally in-love I am with this series-so yes, tears ensued when I was done with it. After two books, we were back in Tate and Jared’s head and what a way to end the series.
This novel is (unsurprisingly) angsty, sexy, entertaining, and emotional. In Aflame, we see a new side to Jared and Tate, and their relationship. Now, if you haven’t read Bully, the first book in this series, I don’t want to give anything away, so just know that Jared and Tate had an extremely rocky start in their roller-coaster of a relationship. So although Jared and Tate’s story seems to end pretty conclusively after Bully and Until You, they actually still have a lot to figure out about themselves and their relationship- hence Aflame.
For those of you who don’t know, Jared is a quiet, brooding asshole *grins* and Tate is his best friend, his other half. She is feisty as hell and her and Jared really balance each other out. The Fall Away series by Penelope Douglas is the story of them and their friends and family. This series is packed with juicy drama, hilarious and perfect dialogue, sexy male leads, and feisty and unique females. Every character in this series is different and memorable- and they all appear in this last installment of the series (which- yes, made me extremely happy). 🙂
So if the fact that the writing, plot, and characters of this book (and series) are phenomenal, hasn’t convince you to pick it up yet, then maybe the amazing music taste of the author will? Oh, and the fact that every novel has its own playlist! Just one more reason why I love Penelope Douglas and would pretty much read anything she writes (grocery list included).
Aflame is a MUST FREAKING READ in my book, as is this entire series; the order of which I will list below. 😉
